Mymensingh has a rich history of print media. Bharat Mihir was one of the oldest newspapers published in Mymensingh during the colonial British Raj. After the independence of Bangladesh in 1971, a lot of weekly and daily newspapers were published from Mymensingh. Banglar Darpan a weekly newspaper was first launched in 1972. In 1979, Banglar Darpan was converted into a daily newspaper titled Dainik Jahan. A woman’s monthly was also published from Mymensingh named Chandrakash for almost a decade. Some other newspapers published were Dainik Ajker Bangladesh and Dainik Ajker Khabar.
